Rhema Foundation

We strive to serve the Word of God, believing that it – living and ever-present – awakens and sustains a life with value, meaning, and purpose. We established the Rhema Foundation to do this better, and we wish for it to be a place where you can find the Word that illuminates daily life. Rhema (ρημα) in Greek means “word,” but unlike logos (λογος), it signifies a living, life-giving word, precise to the person and situation, a word that touches and is a precise light for a specific person and their life. Our activities are based on cooperation with various entities and many individuals dedicated to the service of God’s Word, especially from the Light-Life Movement community “He Is” and the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows in Wrocław-Strachocin.

Who Are We?

We have been married for over 30 years, and we have three adult children and two grandchildren. Both of us studied theology at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology (PWT) in Wrocław. As young people, we encountered the Light-Life Movement and were fascinated by Father Franciszek Blachnicki’s idea of a living Church. A consequence of this fascination was our service to marriages and families – we initiated the establishment of the local marital and family community “He Is” in Wrocław-Strachocin, and for 20 years of our marriage, we organized Domestic Church retreats. There, we discovered the immense power of the Word of God in transforming a person into God’s image and likeness.

Our Patron - St. Joseph

It is said that we do not choose our patron, but the patron chooses us. This was precisely the case with our Foundation. Why specifically St. Joseph? After all, he is referred to as the “great silent one.” In Holy Scripture, Joseph does not utter a single word, but through his demeanor, he shows that being with the Word of God is truly about hearing it and obeying it. He perfectly embodied listening and obedience to the heard Word. We are proud that he chose to become our patron.

The Church - Our Spiritual Home

The phrase of St. Ignatius, “Sentire cum Ecclesia,” is dear to us. This Latin expression, which can be translated as “to feel with the Church” or “to think in unity with the Church,” signifies an attitude of inner agreement, solidarity, and empathy with the teaching and life of the Church. We understand Sentire cum Ecclesia particularly as an attitude of commitment, an invitation to build unity, and to listen to what the Lord is saying to the Church today. It is not merely about intellectual acceptance of the Church’s teaching, but also an attitude of heart and will that unites us with the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ. From this perspective, we are grateful to Archbishop Józef Kupny for recognizing our work for the Word of God and supporting our activities.
