John Paul II lectio divina

“It is especially necessary that listening to the Word of God becomes a living encounter, in accordance with the age-old and still relevant tradition of lectio divina, helping to find in the biblical text a living word that poses questions, indicates direction, and shapes life” (John Paul II, Novo millenio ineunte, 39).

benedict lectio divina

Lectio divina, “if effectively promoted, will bring a new spiritual springtime to the Church” (Benedict XVI, The Word of God as a Source of Renewal for the Church, in: “L’Osservatore Romano” 26 (2005) no. 11-12, p. 25).

“There is a concrete way of listening to what the Lord wants to tell us in His Word, and of opening ourselves to be transformed by His Spirit. This is what we call «lectio divina». It consists in reading the Word of God in moments of prayer, so that it may enlighten and renew us” (Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, no. 152).

Lectio Divina

Brochure

We began the project of promoting an encounter with the living Word of God based on the ancient method of Lectio Divina in 2011 at the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows in Wrocław-Strachocin by printing the first brochures.

Our main goal was to encourage parishioners to independently (individually) read and meditate on the Word of God using this method, specifically:

  1. To convince parishioners of the crucial importance of practicing reading Holy Scripture combined with prayer for daily life (experiencing the power of the living Word of God in everyday life)
  2. Encouraging more frequent recourse to Holy Scripture
  3. Building awareness of Holy Scripture as the inspired Word of God
  4. Developing the skill of reading Holy Scripture as the Word of God and encountering God in His Word
  5. Supporting the practice of personal prayer by providing a ready-made tool that demonstrates how to practice it in a concrete form
  6. Illustrating the dynamics of individual parts of the liturgical year through the accompanying Word of the daily readings
  7. Providing the opportunity for better preparation for the Eucharist liturgy or reflecting on the Word after the liturgy

Lectio Divina

Brochure

Before the Covid pandemic, we distributed approximately 500 copies of the brochure to 13 parishes, mainly in the Wrocław diocese. The pandemic halted our Lectio project in printed brochure form; perhaps we will resume it someday if there is demand…

Lectio Divina

Website

The daily meditations on the Word of God published on our website are created by a group of individuals collaborating with Fundacja Rhema.

We hope that our proposal for listening to and meditating on the Word of God in the form of Lectio Divina will help you encounter the living God, present in the pages of Holy Scripture. Our goal is to show you an accessible and simple way to read, listen to, and pray with Holy Scripture, so that the Word of God you encounter may guide you in your daily life. We also wish to pray with the entire Church, which is why the reading chosen for daily meditation aligns with the liturgical year calendar.

The meditations published on this website should by no means replace individual reflection and listening to what God speaks to each of us in the depths of our hearts directly through His Word. However, we hope that they can help in discovering the richness of meaning in the texts of Holy Scripture and inspire a search for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Easier to understand the Gospel
Hello, I must say that I finally stumbled upon a great website, and I thank you in advance for it. I am happy because someone finally thought about making it easier for everyone to understand the Gospel. There are many portals where translations are convoluted.
Kasia
Thank you for these meditations
Thank you for these meditations. Thank you for addressing the issue of temptation by Satan. I am especially grateful because today many forget that he even exists – even priests. Thank you for quoting from the Apocalypse.

I apply the Word to my life
HELLO! Today I began meditating on Holy Scripture in this way. It's wonderful how a specific passage chosen by me according to the recommendations became clear to me and I applied it to my life. Thank you to your community for maintaining this website. This is what I was looking for. A great application.

The joy of reading the Word
Since I found your website, the joy of reading the Word of God has returned to me anew. There are many websites that contain the content of the Word of God, but unfortunately, contemplation on the Word of God often lacks such inner beauty for me. You bring out this beauty, and for that, you deserve great praise and recognition, bravo!
Michał
Good encouragement for meditating on the Word
Congratulations to the people who created the website (excellent in content and graphics, + modern: mobile application, etc.), an interesting guide/encouragement/preparation for meditating on the Word of God. The only thing that bothers me is a certain abstraction of the title, which feels artificial to me. But all in all, it's a great website, and I wish the administrators perseverance and patience.
Jarek
User-friendly tool
It is a very simple and user-friendly tool for prayer to become life and life to become prayer, so that we may learn to listen and hear what God tells us. Thank you 🙂

You are instruments
You are instruments that God uses so that I and others may better know His Word. May God be glorified in you and in your work!

Thanks to you, I read the Word of God
Thank you for your work, and I'll be brief: if it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't be reading the Word of God, but now I read and meditate with you... Thanks be to God for you : )

I stumbled upon this by chance
I wish to thank with all my heart everyone who creates this website and these meditations. I stumbled upon this by chance, but I will try to visit daily 🙂 May God richly bless you!

I returned to meditating on the Word
Just today I am returning to meditating on the Word, which I stopped many years ago. Now I feel drawn and encouraged to return to contemplating the life of Jesus, because only in this way will I know Him more deeply and build the relationship, the friendship, that I lack. May the Lord bless all who meditate!

They touch the heart

Thank you for the inspiration, the starting point. A very important reflection and guidance in prayer for me. I will use this website daily; I stumbled upon it by chance looking for SOMETHING to start my day that would comfort me. And it fulfilled its role. Thank you.

I compare my thoughts
Comparing my thoughts with your reflections on the readings helps me greatly. Especially because they are so personal. This website of yours is truly a blessing for others.

Your Word has power
Thank You, Lord, that today action preceded my meditation on the Word. I decided to support children in Madagascar. Your Word has power. You are alive and real here and now. Glory to You, Jesus!

Lectio is living by the Word
I started Lectio Divina a year ago. I can no longer imagine life without the Holy Word, without Jesus, without God and the Holy Spirit! Thank you to everyone who created this website, and may God bless you. And I still find myself crying when I read the Scripture or when I realize how happy I am since Jesus came into my life.

A very good idea
Thank you very much for this meditation. The entire idea of this website is very good, and I am glad I discovered it. It is wonderful that we can learn to meditate on the Word of God using the Lectio Divina method from it. Thank you for sharing your own life example, which shows how we can invite God into our daily lives. God bless!

Peace and good!

My name is Br. Serhiy Kippa. I am a Catholic priest-monk from the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. In all the “poverty of my words,” I simply share with friends a seed of His Word that has touched me. And so, an archive was created.

I thank Mr. Jerzy Prokopiuk and the RHEMA Foundation for the opportunity to create a Ukrainian version of Lectio Divina.
